Kevin and Supora Fairbanks- 6/27/09

Hello Again,
I just finished a recent wedding and am in the process of uploading it, but while my computer is running slowly I find a spare moment to share Kevin and Supora’s Wedding with you. Keep an eye out I have another one I am working on and hope to finish very soon.

Supora found me on Craigslist (again this is the second wedding in the month of June that found me on CL), but instead of contacting me through Craigslist Supora checked my website and did her homework. She contacted me a very short message through my website (www.vanessabryanfreelance.com) Something along the lines of “I need a photographer in my budget of $300″ — I did contact her back and set up a meeting for the very next day. While I no longer offer wedding photography that low, I was willing to compromise and show them that my services were well worth the little extra I was charging— they really wanted the album!

The wedding was at a location I had never shot before the Arlington Women’s Club. It was a nice little place off of University Blvd, pleasantly decorated with greens— This complimented the deep red theme Supora chose. I found an arch set up where the couple would get married, with a cute little painted wall behind them featuring a very relaxing bridge scene.

Supora arrived shortly after I did and a mix of friends and family helped her get ready in the bathroom. It was nice seeing everyone pull together for those last minute touches.

Finally it was time to get the show on the road- Supora was ready and the wedding party had lined up ready to make a grand entrance! I must say they most definitely did. It was a rather large party with 1 best man, 5 grooms men, 2 ring bearers, 2 ushers, 2 maids of honor, 4 brides maids, and a flower girl — 19 in all including the bride and groom! As they made their entrance into the hall each couple took a step and the men spun the women, then again at the isle, and once more at the alter. Most of them danced all the way down! Quite a show and such a neat thing to witness. Definitely a lively bunch!

Once the party took their places- Supora stole the show. She wore a very simplistic floor length white gown with a bit of a train and some sequins at her waist, and a delicate tiara. The ceremony was quite traditional with the ring exchange and unity candle. In lighting the candle it fell, luckily it did not go out and the ceremony continued. See there will always be something forgotten, something dropped, or something will go wrong– All you can hope for is it is a minor mishap and you can have a sense of humor about it.

Once all was said and done the couple kissed and made their exit with the wedding party dancing behind them.

The party got in a white limo and we drove to a neighboring apartment complex that had a beautiful dock stretching out onto the St. Johns River and one of its bridges in the background. There we took most all of the posed shots and I got some really beautiful Bride and Groom shots before returning to the Women’s Club for the reception

Once returning to the reception, at the Arlington Women’s Club, we finished any posed shots. The party made their entrance into the hall, and the Dj announced Mr and Mrs Kevin Fairbanks to all of their family and friends. The couple shared their first dance, danced with their parents, then danced with their friends. The cut the cake and sweetly fed it to each other. Supora throw her bouquet and Kevin retrieved and threw the garter. Then as tradition the catcher of the bouquet had the garter placed on by the gentleman who caught it.

Thank you Kevin and Supora for letting me share in your day. Good luck!
