Hey Everyone,
Thanks for hanging in there! These last few weeks have been super busy between my special I was running and life outside of photography I haven’t had time to catch up
Definitely not a bad thing but busy none the less.
Outside of photography Ive gotten to visit old friends and enjoy a nice long trip horseback riding with the hubby and friends. We’ve (hubby and I) managed to cut down several trees, crushing the smoker in the process – Oops! At least he got to get a new one out of the deal, right? Still have to clean up the huge mess in the back yard though
Even my furbabies got to travel with us and visit with family and friends. On the way back to Jacksonville we stopped in to see my sister and uber-adorable nieces
They grow up so quickly!
In the photo life – For the last three weeks Ive had at least three sessions per week some up to five sessions. Amazing! I only have you wonderful supporters to thank
All of the sessions have been some variation of portraiture, mostly boudoir, but a pinup or two and a glamor session was tossed in the mix. Ive gotten to meet some pretty cool folks and learn more about them.
I’m proud to say one of them is a repeat client already, and while that thrills me its unfortunate to learn the cause… I want to share her story or bits of it at least since Ive promised not to publish any names or pictures due to privacy concerns. This is definitely a reason to take those photos before life passes you by.
Let’s call her “L”.
L submitted a general photography request online with very little detail, and with all clients I promptly returned her request with more information about my photo services and this special that I am running. She called me back within the hour to explain a bit more about what she wanted and even came out later that afternoon for a consultation. In meeting with her I could tell she sad and quite frankly a little beaten down. L has been battling different illnesses her entire life, but has found out recently that she will be ending up in a wheelchair sooner than later.
L came to me because she feels she will be losing so many things she holds dear. These photo sessions we are doing encompass the need to have physical memories in prints of what she is now, and what she has done before she can no longer do it anymore.
Growing up she was active and still leads a fulfilling life with charity work and various activities. In shooting with her Ive gotten to hear more about her experiences.
L loves to dance! Ending up in a wheelchair will be very hard for her (as it is for many people), but all of her family is spread across several continents and countries. She hasn’t seen them in over ten years. I did get to meet her furry little son and companion during our first session
He was so cute!
We’ve shot dancing pictures, and glamorous photos as she dressed up in her formal wear. Shots with her doggie, and shots for family. Though we haven’t gotten through her wish list, every time we meet I feel a little more lucky to get to know such a wonderful person. I cant wait to go to the ice rink and shoot (she used to figure skate), or the beach with her telescope. Diving at the pool and volunteering with the animals — all things L feels like she can’t take for granted anymore. I personally want to capture anything and everything we can! It’s the only thing I can contribute to a very interesting life.
We have had to reschedule do to weather and bad reactions with new medicine regimes, but I as committed to this project now as she is.
If you are all still with me (and I hope you are) please take something away from L… As the mind and body fail the achievements of life remain. Photos are important in revisiting those memories and handing down those stories to future generations.
You never know who’s life you will touch and what you can teach them. I realize how much Ive taken for granted in my youth and life and vow to make a conscience effort to take more from every experience and give more of myself without putting it off till tomorrow. Who knows when tomorrow might stop coming.
Thanks for reading yall! I hope things are well for you
Always,
Vanessa
